As we told you some time ago, Avalpa people gave a talk at last DvbWorld 2010. It was quite a rewarding moment after all the efforts of the last 6 years. Thank to the committe people for the invitation.

Idtvos going public: an accessible STB open source |

The IDTVOS project is finally public. IDTVOS is the free middleware for digital television set top box developed by Inteco.
IDTVOS is based upon Jet and is focused toward easy accessibility (useful for everybody and impaired people too!). The main feature inside is the integration with Flite, a "text to speech" engine that help a lot browsing the decoder menu, reading televideo and all the textual content already present in interactive applications. |

Avalpa has presented the 2.0 release of OpenCaster at the Free software conference in Bologna, the next 12-13 of June.

2008, this first year for Avalpa Digital Engineering is finally over. We have done a great deal of things, because a start up is always quite a daunting task, but it has been quite an exciting endeavour, let me tell you! We'd like to make our warmest greetings, for a happy New Year 2009, to all the people out there, expecially to our customers who have been so kind to trust Avalpa (we hope they enjoy our commitment to customer satisfaction) and testimonials who acknowledge the quality of our products. We know that 2009 is going to be another though year, digital television is taking off and spreading all over like a wildfire, as the switch over timeline is going on and on. This challenge keeps us very focused not only to delivery again the greatest technological innovation in the digital television field but also to enable our customers deploy the most useful services for the real people out there. Jet has reached the 2.0 milestone! What is Jet? Jet is a middleware based on the phoneme vm made by Avalpa people for digital television set top box. Jet is free (as freedom), GPL licensed software.
With this major bump up, we mark the first release based on a solid foundation and high level hardware exploitation. For the truly geeks among you, we mean:
- True color triple buffered graphical navigator,
- hardware based section filtering (for faster DSMCC carousel decoding)
- video move and resize scaling,
- i-frame decoding with DMA bit blit
- smart card APDU support
- bit-torrent daemon
